The New York Times (NYTimes.com) has launched an Android app for its International edition. This app is designed and formatted for optimal reading of NY Times for all tablets and phones running on Android.
The New York Times Android App version 4.0 is free to download from Google Play here. All users can access up to 10 free articles per month and can opt to subscribe for full access to all sections of the app for a stand-alone cost of $14.99 (phone) and $19.99 (tablet). On certain Samsung phones and tablets, Samsung customers can get their first 12 weeks free when they sign up for a NYT subscription as part of Samsung’s Galaxy Gifts program.
Readers who download or upgrade to The New York Times Android App version 4.0 will have the choice to read both the U.S. and International editions. They can easily switch between editions and enjoy a more fluid and customized news browsing experience.
Like the previous version of the app, the updated Android app features more than 25 sections of New York Times news, information and opinion, including videos, slide shows and blogs. It also features offline reading, breaking news alerts and a multi-media widget. Local pricing is available via Google Play in 59 countries.
Denise Warren, executive vice president, Digital Products and Services, The New York Times, said “The launch of an international edition on the The New York Times App for Android answers the demands of Android users worldwide and further anchors The Times’s commitment as a global news organization.”
