HMD Global has revived brand Nokia and has introduced many Nokia branded smartphones till date. For those, who want to switch from feature phone to an Android phone in budget price and without any complication in OS, the Nokia C3 would be an ideal companion for these peope to start their journey in Android ecosystem. Nokia C3 is no frill smartphone but gives you an enriched experience of Android and hence would be of interest to those who are not heavy users but want a calling device and wants to use few apps in their daily life.
On the design front, the Nokia C3 has removable matted polycarbonate back panel and after removing it, you will have to fit the battery which comes in the box. Two Nano SIM Slots and one dedicated slot is given under the back panel.
There is an 8mp camera at the back and behind it, you will find fingerprint sensor which is quite fast and will not fail you in unlocking the phone. Nokia branding is also given on the back panel. On the right side, power button and volume rockers are given and on the right hand side, you will find Google Assistant button. At the bottom, micro USB charging slot is given and on the top, you will find 3.5mm headphone jack. Nokia branding is also given at the bottom of the display. This phone comes in two colors of Sand and Nordic Blue. Overall, this phone has an ordinary look but looks quite sturdier and gives good grip for holding. This phone weights 184.5gm and can be easily navigated with single hand.
This phone comes with 5.99 inch (1440 × 720 pixels resolution) HD+ display with an aspect ratio of 18:9. The display is vibrant and sunlight visibilty is also good. You will enjoy watching and reading content on it. This phone is powered by 1.6GHz Octa-Core Unisoc SC9863A processor with IMG8322 GPU. It comes in two varaints of 2GB RAM with 16GB of storage and 3GB RAM with 32GB of storage which can be further extended upto 128GB via microSD card. The processor is an elemantry one and is good enough just to keep the phone running for your basic requirements. You can open the apps and websites, social media apps without any hiccup but do not expect it to run smoothly if you are heavy users and wants to open multiple apps and websites in the browser. The RAM/ROM capacity allows you to remain very moderate user. This phone is packed with 3040mAh battery which will easily last for one day as the phone is made for very limited use. The battery takes approximately 130 minutes to charge from zero to full.
For photography, this phone is equipped with an 8MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and LED Flash. You can click an average images in good light for posting on social media. You should not attempt taking photos in fading lights as you will be disappointed. For selfie too, it has an average camera of 5MP with f/2.4 aperture to satisfy your requirement of occasional selfies. Some of the images taken with rear camera are reproduced below:
The most satisfying feature of this phone is its Android 10 OS which gives you stock Android experience. You will not find any useless apps and it is not cluttered at all unlike Chinese smartphones which makes your life hell when using their OS. For first time user of Android phone, this will be seamless transition from feature phone to Android phone. Moreover, call quality of this phone is quite good and you can get good audio reproduction with good quality earphones.
This phone offers all connectivity options of FM radio, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2 GPS + GLONASS and micro USB port.
This phone is priced Rs. 7499 for 2GB RAM/16GB Storage and Rs. 8999 for 3GB RAM/32GB Storage which is bit expensive in my opinion keeping inview of its basic features. This phone can be considered if you are looking for a sturdier phone with stock Android experience without any clutter and do not want to buy a Chinese phone. For the sake of repetition, this phone is for those who are very moderate users and want a good calling device with occasional usage of apps and photography.
