Based on the success of its latest R series of smartphones especially R9 in China (F1 Plus in India), OPPO has for the first time ever taken the top spot for a full quarter in China’s smartphone market, helping it hold firm to its position as the no. 4 smartphone maker globally, as per Counterpoint Research study.
“We are delighted at OPPO’s continued growth, and at the enthusiasm we’re receiving from consumers in China and in our markets around the world. Our recent performance confirms the power of our core commitment — to build premium-quality devices that are tailor-made for the real needs of our users.” Mr. Sky Li, OPPO Global VP, MD of International Mobile Business and President of OPPO India, said, “Taking this winning streak and commitment to our consumers ahead, we want to work hard towards experiencing the same amount of success and love in the Indian market as India is definitely a priority for us.”
Oppo has also been getting very good traction in the Indian market and the credit for this goes to its overwhelming response to F1 and F1 Plus series of smartphones with an amazing 16 MP front camera for snapping brilliant selfies, and its innovative VOOC Flash Charge technology.
Oppo has huge plans for India and under ‘Make in India’ initiative, has invested Rs. 100 crores for setting up a factory in Noida which began production in July which has a capacity of 10 million units. The recently launched Selfie Expert Oppo F1s has been manufactured in this very factory. Oppo also plans to establish an SMT (Surface Mounting Technology) factory by next year to further meet the demands of the Indian consumer.
