Chinese handsets maker Oppo has launched two smartphones at an event in Singapore – Oppo N3 and Oppo R5. The N3 is priced at USD 649 and the R5 is priced at USD 499, respectively. Both the smartphones will be available in the India market soon, but no definite time period about its debut has been announced.
Oppo N3
Oppo has taken forward the legacy of camera innovation, which they started with N1 smartphone. Like N1, the N3 also features a 16 megapixel rotating camera for capturing rear and front views, but with an added function of automation. It has the ability to rotate 206 degrees and is capable of taking 64 megapixel high resolution images using its free-stop and multi-angle shooting features. Furthermore, the camera of N3 also has feature of target-tracking focus shift function. In simple terms, it means that the users have to identify the target in focus and the camera will constantly modify its angle to follow the moving target, helping users create clear images and videos. Moreover, the camera can be rotated in three ways – by O-click, gestures and touch access.
The OppoO N3 sports a 5.5 inch IPS display having resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels with 403ppi density. It comes with Corning Gorilla glass 3 protection. The N3 smartphone is powered by the 2.5 GHz quad core Snapdragon 801 processor with 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage. This runs on the latest Color OS 2.0 which is based on the Android KitKat 4.4.
The Oppo N3 is packed with 3000 mAh battery with Oppo’s VOOC mini rapid charging system. According to Oppo, a 30-minute charge will provide 75% battery, and a five-minute charge allows for a two-hour call. Moreover, the VOOC mini has been made much smaller and easy to carry. This phone has dimensions of 161.2 × 77 × 9.9 mm and its weight is 192 grams.
Oppo R5
The R5 is touted to be the world’s thinnest smartphone with thickness of just 4.85 mm. This phone has dimensions of 148.9× 74.5 × 4.85 mm and its weight is 155 grams. This smartphone is made of first-grade steel and designed with hand-polished micro-arc frame, to make it smooth and strong. It will fit into your hand like a glove.
The Oppo R5 comes with a 5.2 inch AMOLED display with resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, and is powered by the octa core Snapdragon 615 processor with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage. Oppo R5 is also claimed to be “the world’s first smartphone that uses phase-change material, keeping it at a constant cool temperature whilst maintaining superior functionality. The R5’s patented heat dissipation technology “Cool Element” protects its octa-core CPU, in turn prolonging the life of the phone”.
The Oppo R5 is equipped with a 13 MP rear auto focus camera and a front facing 5 MP camera. It comes with the PI 2.0 Plus Flash Shot technology. The R5 is stated to be capable to let you take the shot with an imperceptible focus time – it has a maximum focus time of 0.18 seconds and claims to deliver 50MP high-definition picture clarity.
The R5 is packed with 2000 mAh battery and also comes with the VOOC mini rapid charging system. It runs on Android 4.4 KitKat OS with Oppo’s Color OS 2.0 superimposed on it.
