According to a report by research firm Strategy Analytics, Chinese smartphone Oppo R9s is the world’s third most popular Android smartphone model in the first quarter of 2017. During this period,  OPPO R9s was the star performer after Apple’s iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 plus.

According to the report, OPPO R9s shipped 8.9 million units for third place and 3 percent marketshare worldwide in Q1 2017. OPPO is largely unknown in the Western world, but its brand is wildly popular in China and growing rapidly across India. The R9s is OPPO’s flagship 4G device with key features such as dual-SIM connectivity and fingerprint security.

“The fact that OPPO is one of the number one selling Android smartphone in Q1 2017 is a phenomenal achievement for the company. OPPO is not operating in as many markets as other smartphone manufacturers, so the fact that we’ve captured 2.5% of the global market with the R9s shows that the premium quality handsets are in huge demand in the South Asian countries.” Said Mr Sky Li, Global Vice President, OPPO and President OPPO India.
