Review Of Panasonic Eluga Mark 2 – Premium Looking Metal Phone With Mettle

Panasonic of Japan has been quite aggressive with its smartphone business and its Eluga Mark smartphone which was launched in India last year has been quite successful. To take its success story forward, Panasonic has now launched Eluga Mark 2 with bumped up features compared to earlier iterataion. The Eluga Mark 2 has been equipped with more RAM, ROM and powerful battery with quick charge. It is priced Rs. 10,499 and available exclusively on Flipkart.

The Eluga Mark 2 is housed in metal body which is made of very refined material of aircraft grade aluminum alloy which gives it premium look. The back panel is soft and gives strong grip without any chance of slippage from your hand.

The SIM tray slot is on the left side and this phone supports Dual SIM. The phone has power button and volume rocker on the rignt hand side with good tactile support.

Their is USB port with OTG compatibility on the bottom alognwith speaker grill. On the top, you will find ear phones slot and IR sensor.

Overall, this phone has impressvie design and is not bulky despite its 5.5 inch display. You can easily handle this phone with single hand and it can be easily tucked in your pocket.

This phone has 5.5 inch HD display with resolution of 1280×720 pixels which produces vibrant colors. For protection, this display comes with 2.5D curved Asahi Dragon Trail glass.  You get bright images and crisp text on the display and its viewing angles are also good. The visibilty in the sunlight is not bad. Under the hood of this phone is an Octa-Core MediaTek 6753 clocked at 1.3 GHz with Mali-T720 GPU. It has 3GB RAM and 32GB RAM which can be further extended upto 128GB via microSD card compared to 2GB RAM and 16GB of internal storage available on the Eluga Mark. This phone is ideal for playing games as we have observed during our testing period. You can play heavy games on this phone without any stutter. Launching of apps and switching between the apps is also smooth.

This phone is packed with 3000mAh battery compared to 2500 mAh battery available on Eluga Mark. The plus point in this phone is that the battery comes with fast charge feature and you can recharge the battery from 0 to 100% percent in quick time. Moreover, the 3000mAh battery can take you through to full day if you are moderate user.

This phone has very fast fingerprint scanner on the back behind the rear camera. You can register upto five fingers on this phone for unlocking the phone. The fingerprint scanner is very easy to set-up and in our repeated test, it has not failed us even a single time for unlocking the phone. Besides unlocking, you can also click selfies with the fingerprint scanner.

On the photographic front, this phone also boasts of good rear camera with 13MP sensor which captures good images in daylight and reasonable quality images in low light with perfect focus. The camera comes with various modes such as night mode for clicking images in the night, face beauty mode for selfies and you can also change the color of your images with various shades which is an inbuilt feature of the app. We have clicked few images in daylight and you can see below that they have good contrast, depth and brightness. This phone has 5MP front shooter and produces decent selfies for posting on social media platforms.

This phone runs on Android Marshmallow OS compared to Lollipop OS of Eluga Mark, with customisation of Panasonic on the top.  As written earlier, we do not appreciate much customised interface over the Android OS except few exceptions. In the case of Eluga Mark 2 what we appreciate is that it is easy to navigate. It comes pre-loaded with various useful apps such as compass, Truecaller, Xender, Newsstand, Dailyhunt and Panasonic Care.

This phone supports 4G LTE connectivity and while using it on Airtel network in Delhi, we have observed that call quality while receiving and making calls were good and audio output on this phone is also decent.

This phone also comes with inbuilt Peel Smart app and with the help of this app, you can navigate your TV and DTH set-up box. Plus, you can also view videos, trailer clips of movies etc. With the use of IR blaster, you can control AC with this phone as well.

At a price less than Rs. 11,000,  you get Eluga Mark 2 phone with good fingerprint scanner, decent performer with sufficient RAM capacity and storage capacity of upto 128GB. If you are planning to buy a smartphone with good design and security features with trouble free performace then you can certainly have a serious look at this phone.
