It is quite evident that the smartphones makers are now devoting lot of attention on wearable devices. Today, LG announced their new smartwatch – LG G Smartwatch R powered by Android Wear OS. The other South Korean giant Samsung has also introduced today the Samsung Gear S, which is driven by Samsung’s own Tizen Wearable OS.
The Samsung Gear S features a 2-inch curved Super AMOLED display (360 x 480). It will allow users to read messages and notifications at a single glance with features such as conversation view and condensed font. This device is powered by a 1.0 GHz Dual Core processor, coupled with 512MB RAM and 4GB internal storage. It is packed with 300mAh Li-ion battery.
For connectivity options, the Samsung Gear S offers 3G, Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity, allowing users to stay informed with seamless notifications from social networks, calendars and applications even when away from their phone. It lets users to instantly reply to incoming messages using the onscreen keyboard, or utilize enhanced S voice functionality to ensure tasks can be completed immediately. You can also make and receive calls directly from this device, or get calls forwarded from the smartphones as it can be paired to your smartphone.
Besides above, the Samsung Gear S also comes pre-loaded with Here naviagation app and a 24-hour news and views service from The Financial Times ‘fastFT’, which works together with advanced-reading technology from Spritz. The Samsung Gear S is also a perfect health and fitness companion with more enhanced multi-sensors, built-in GPS, and robust S Health features. In addition, applications such as Nike+ Running allow users to track their runs and stay motivated while on the move, without their smartphone.
The Samsung Gear S has curved design and will fit comfortably around the contours of the wrist. This watch has customizable screen options and changeable straps for the wearer to select the same as per one’s taste and style. This device is IP67 certified dust and water resistant.
Samsung has also announced today new Samsung Gear Circle. When paired with a smartphone, users can easily receive calls, listen to music, and make voice commands in style through a Bluetooth connection. It features a magnetic lock which clasps around the user’s neck when not in use, as well as a vibrate function to signal incoming calls and notifications.
Both the Samsung Gear S and the Gear Circle will be available in global markets in phases beginning of October. Samsung has not revealed the prices of these devices.
