Samsung has made official now Galaxy Tab4 tablet series, and announced three tablets, namely: Galaxy Tab4 7.0, Galaxy Tab4 8.0 and Galaxy Tab4 10.1. As their name suggests, the Galaxy Tab4 7.0 features a 7-inch display; the Galaxy Tab4 8.0 has 8-inch display, and finally the Galaxy Tab4 10.1 comes with a 10.1-inch display. Samsung has not revealed the prices of these tablets but has mentioned that they will be available in global market in second quarter of 2014. These tablets will come in white and black color variants.
Majority of the features of all the three new Galaxy Tab4 range of tablets are almost similar. All the three tablets will run on Google’s latest KitKat 4.4 OS, and will be available in Wi-Fi /3G and LTE options. All the tablets also have voice-calling support. These three tablets are powered by 1.2 GHz Quad Core processor( no details on chipset) with1.5GB of RAM.All three tablets also has same WXGA (1280×800 pixel) display resolution, but they have different screen sizes as mentioned earlier. All three tablets are equipped with a 3-megapixel fixed focus rear cameras and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing cameras.
The Galaxy Tab4 7.0 tablet has two versions of inbuilt storage – 8GB and 16GB, which can be further expanded up to 32GB (3G) and 64GB (LTE) via microSD card.Whereas,the Galaxy Tab4 8.0 and Galaxy Tab4 10.1 tablets come only in 16GB inbuilt storage version, and which is expandable up to 64GB with the help of microSD card. The Galaxy Tab4 10.1 is fuelled by a 6800mAh battery, while the Galaxy Tab4 8.0 is packed with a 4450mAh battery. Samsung has not mentioned the battery details of Galaxy Tab4 7.0 tablet.
Considering the above features and the evolving of Galaxy Tab4 tablets from Galaxy Tab3 which have mid-ranged prices, one can expect that the newly announced Tab4 series will also be priced in mid-range segment. Samsung will have to keep the prices very attractive as the tablet market is also getting very crowded like smartphones.
