Silicon Image Announces Dual Screen Android App Development Contest

Silicon Images of US is sponsoring a contest for Android application developers to enable dual screen experiences.The total contest prize pool is $100,000.

The “Dual Screen App Challenge” contest is being organised to promote the creation of games, entertainment and productivity applications that leverage leading mobile-to-display connectivity technologies including MHL and WirelessHD. The MHL technology standard was developed by Nokia, Samsung, Silicon Image, Sony, and Toshiba. MHL-enabled products include smartphones, tablets, DTVs, monitors, projectors, A/V receivers, Blu-ray Disc players, cables, TV accessories, adapters, automotive accessories and more.The WirelessHD standard is the first global 60GHz RF standard for multi-gigabit data rate wireless connectivity. WirelessHD solutions deliver Full HD video, audio and data, with near zero latency—enabling cost-effective, high-quality, end-to-end wireless interactive video solutions for mobile devices, consumer electronics, personal computing and display applications.

The submissions for the contest will be accepted till 21st July, 2014 in the three categories – games, productivity and entertainment. The participants must showcase their apps in MHL or WirelessHD technology using cases between mobile devices and displays. The submissions will be judged on the following criteria:

  •  Best use and display of different content and information on dual separate screens
  • Best use of Silicon Image technologies and features
  • Innovation & creativity
