It’s Christmas already ! WordPress has released version 2.9 on 18th December,2009, just before the beginning of the new year !
This release come with lot of new features and bug fixes. Some of them are mentioned below :
- Trash status for posts, pages, and comments (includes restore and permanent delete).
- Allow user registration to be enabled by an XMLRPC client.
- ‘rel=canonical’ for singular pages.
- Scroll back to the same location after saving a file in the Plugin and Theme editors.
- Set “Allow my blog to appear in search engines” to checked in installation.
- Don’t offer to make a category its own parent.
- Better feedback on publishing of future posts and pages.
- Press This bookmarklet fixes.
- Better Image editing.
- Show “Draft updated” instead of “Post updated” when saving draft.
- Open View/Preview post in a new window from the link in the Saved/Updated message.
- Display better information about broken themes when there is no stylesheet
The changes/bug fixes mentioned above are those that i, as a noob wordpress user, felt necessary. For a complete list of changes/improvements refer the Official WordPress Page.
In order to be able to install your web host must have MySQL 4.1.2 or greater. The old version required version 4.0. Since WordPress 2.9, is the least publicly tested version, released after only 2 days of RC1, i think there will be more updates in the coming days !
