More than 250 employees are registered to attend the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, according to a person familiar with Apple’s plans. One of the biggest gripes about CES is that Apple, which dominates consumer electronics, does not exhibit its wares at the show.
A reporter for Paid Content on Tuesday spotted Greg Joswiak, Apple’s head of iOS product marketing walking around Sony Corp’s booth at the convention center. A blogger for The Next Web posted on Twitter that he saw Apple’s software chief, Scott Forstall, at Lenovo’s booth on Tuesday.
Apple may not participate in CES but they cannot ignore the importance of this show, where 3100 exhibitors are showcasing around 20000 new products.
Apple will be alarmed about progress of Samsung in Android smartphones and tablets and other leading players of Android smartphones. Nokia has also unveiled Lumia 900 to be sold on AT&T network in US. Alarm bells will also be ringing in Apple camp after arrival of ultra thin notebooks.
Competition is becoming tough for Apple for all segments – smartphones, tablets, notebook and even smart TV, for which no definite plan has surfaced from Apple and if grapevine is to be believed then Google is actively working on smart TV in collaboration with Samsung/LG/Sharp, which will run on Android platform?
Apple is compelled to send its biggest contingent to CES to see the latest advancements.
