BlackBerry DTEK60 & DTEK50 Secured Android Phones Launched At Rs. 46,990 & 21,990

Canada based BlackBerry has launched in India their two Android smartphone, DTEK60 and DTEK50. The BlackBerry DTEK60 and DTEK50 are probably the last smartphones from the Canadian company and after this they will not manufacture the phones but outsource the same.

 

The DTEK60 is priced Rs. 46,990 and will be available from the month of December whereas the DTEK50 will start selling by the end of week. These phones will be sold and promoted by BlackBerry’s new distributor in India, Optiemus Infracom.

The USP of these phones is that they are claimed to be world’s most secured Android phones as they incorporate an alert system that tells the user if their privacy is at risk. These smartphones comes with DTEK Security App for keeeping a check on the OS and the installed applications. It safe guards the phone from any misuse and will notify the owner if photos or videos are taken or text messages are sent from their phones without their permission. The DTEK60 also has fingerprint sensor on the back panel.This phone has unibody design of metal and dual glass panel. The DTEK50 does not have fingerprint scanner.

On the hardware front, the DTEK60 sports a 5.5-inch Quad HD scratch-resistant display with resolution of 1440×2560 pixels, 534PPI that is four times the pixel of a standard HDTV. It is powered by Snapdragon 820 64-bit quad-core processor which is mated with 4GB of RAM and Adreno 530 clocked at 624MHz GPU. It comes with 32GB of internal storage which is expandable up to 2TB via microSD card.

The DTEK60 is packed with powerful cameras for good photographic experience. It is mounted with 21MP auto-focus rear camera with f/2.0, PDAF, dual tone LED flash and video image stabilization. It comes with various modes such as  HDR, panorama, burst mode etc. The rear camera has capability of 4K video recording at 30fps and slow-motion HD videos shooting at 120fps. For selfies, this phone also has impressive 8MP front shooter with selfie flash for capturing good selfies even in low lights. The front camera comes with f/2.2 aperture and 84 degree wide angle lens. The front shooter also allows 1080p HD video recording at 30fps.

The DTEK60 gets its juice from 3,000mAh battery that comes with Quick Charge 3.0. Keeping with the prevailing trend, this phone also comes with USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer.

On the other hand, the DTEK50 comes with 5.2 inch full HD display with resolution of 1080×1920 pixels, 424PPI. It is powered by a 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 617 processor combined with 3GB RAM and 16 GB of internal memory which can be extended upto 2TB via microSD cards. This phone is mounted with 13MP rear camera with PDAF, dual-tone LED flash with an f/2.0 aperture. It also houses an 8MP front camera withwith an 84-degree wide-angle lens and f/2.2 aperture. This phone is packed with 2,610mAh battery. This phone does not come with USB Type-C port but the normal port for charging.

Both the phone runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and also comes with BlackBerry’s suite of productivity apps, such as the Hub, Calendar, and keyboard. Both the phones come with support for single SIM. They also offer connectivity options of LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n 2.4 GHz, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS, and NFC.

The DTEK60 will face competition from Galaxy S7, HTC 10 and LG G5 in this price range and DTEK50 will have to compete with Xiaomi Mi5 etc.
