Gionee had launched its phablet Gionee S Plus for mid-segment in the month of Novembe last year at Rs. 16,999. The S Plus has all the ingredients to compell you to look at it seriously if you are considering to buy a smartphone having a display of 5.5 inches and your budget is limited.
Gionee S Plus comes with 5.5-inch Amoled Display (1280 x 720 pixels). It is powered by a 1.3 GHz Mediatek Octa Core paired with 3GB RAM, 16GB internal storage which can be extended upto 128GB via micro SD card.
We are very much impressed with its powerful removable 3150mAh battery which can last easily upto 14 hours with moderate usage. I have used this phone for two weeks and with one full charge in the morning, the phone lasted the full day. I used this phone for social networking, clicking approximately ten photos daily, watching few Youtube content, using my two email accounts etc and ofcourse calling and receiving calls on 4G network. This phone remained always remain connected to Wi-Fi when in the vicinity of the router and otherwise on Airtel 4G.
I am also impressed with the camera quality of this phone. This phone is equipped with 13 MP rear camera with LED flash + 5MP front camera. I have clicked few images in good light, which are reproduced below. The camera struggles when you click the images in fading light which is quite undersandable as you can’t expect everything from this camera in this price range. The images have good details, contrast and depth. The reproduced images may not appear as good as it came out here because we have to compress them quite a lot to publish them in this article. However, you can see the actual images in my review video, which is appended below.
You can see the unboxiing and review videos to have better perspective of this phone. In my opinion, this phone has all the features to fit the bill of a mid-segment. We wish it is available in the range of Rs. 14K and since it is already five months old, it will be availabe in this range now or in the coming days.
We highly recommend it if you are in the market with Rs. 15,000 in your pocket.
