As announced by Google 4 days ago while announcing the Google 4 Doodle Contest, which was won by Varsha Gupta of Ryan International School, Greater Noida, that the Doodle will be displayed on homepage of Google India on the occasion of Children’s Day, which is also birthday of first Prime Minister of India – Jawaharlal Nehru, Varsha will be very proud girl as her Doodle is on display.
“Varsha Gupta’s doodle of the Google logo artfully depicts how India is a land of different cultures and music plays an important role in it. The doodle artfully represents many musical instruments that India has introduced to the world- Tabla, Sarod, Veena and Shehnai…” wrote Robin Joseph, Google’s Consumer Marketing executive on Google’s blog.
Explaining her doodle, Varsha writes, “India is a land of different cultures. In India, music plays a very important role. India has given many musical instruments to the world. Goddess Saraswati plays Veena, God Shiv plays Damaru. According to our mythological stories musical instruments used to be played on all the occasions. Even during war musical instruments were played. Lord Krishna’s flute is known in the whole world for its magical music. In modern days Mr. Zakir Hussain is world famous as Tabla Mastro and Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma is known as a great Santoor player all over the world”.
This year participants were challenged to imagine their own version of the Google logo based on the theme “India’s gift to the world”. For winning the competition, Varsha was given a laptop, a year’s Internet connection and a Rs. 2,00,000 technology grant for her proud and renowned school – Ryan International School, Greater Noida. Well done Varsha and congrats once again to her school!
Google holds the Google Doodle competition every year wherein students from the 1st to 10th standard design their versions of its logo based on a theme.
