HCL Bags UIDAI Contract

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has been awarded the Managed Service Provider(MSP) to HCL Infosystems Ltd.,to implement and manage the Central ID Repository (CIDR) for UIDAI. The contract is for a period of 7 years.

The entire end-to-end technology infrastructure of the UIDAI will be managed by HCL Infosystems as the designated Managed ServicesProvider (MSP). As the MSP, HCL Info-systems will be responsible for procurement and installation of the IT infrastructure, implementation of information security management systems and operations support and maintenance. The scope of work also includes technical help desk, support services and database administration.

Elaborating on the signing of the contract, Shr iB.B.Nanawati, DDG (Technology), UIDAI said, “We are happy to partner with HCL InfosystemsLtd. which is a long standing and prestigious Indian IT company. With the award of the MSP contract to HCL Infosystems Limited, UIDAI looks forward to maximize efficiency and to bring to fruition the goal of providing a unique identification number to every Indian”.

Commenting on the occasion Mr. APS Bedi, EVP, HCL Infosystems Ltd. said, “It is a proud moment for us to associate ourselves with the biggest ever IT Managed Services project of its kind. As the MSP for the project we are committed to meet and deliver our defined scope of work which broadly covers the implementation and the management of the Central ID Repository for UIDAI. We wish one day our Honourable HRD minister will realise the true potential and capabilities of HCL Infosystems and awards the contract of its hugely ambitious project of providing low-cost tablets to HCL Infosystems Ltd, which has revenue of US$ 2.4billion (Rs.10,754 crores) and is India’s premier hardware, services and ICT systems integration company offering a wide spectrum of ICT products that includes Computing, Storage, Networking, Security, Telecom, Imaging and Retail.
