Nokia has expanded its portfolio of entry-level Asha range of feature phones by launching three phones – Asha 500, Asha 502 and Asha 503 in Abu Dhabi. These phones will be available in bright red, bright green, yellow, cyan, white and black, and will start shipping in Q4 2013.
The Nokia Asha 500 features a 2.8-inch screen, 2MP camera and comes in single SIM and Easy Swap Dual SIM variants. It will be available in Africa, Asia-Pacific, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East at a price of USD 69 before taxes or subsidies.
The Nokia Asha 502 features a 3-inch screen, a 5MP camera with LED flash and will have Easy Swap Dual-SIM variant only. The price of this phone before taxes or subsidies starts at USD 89 in Africa, Asia-Pacific, Europe and Middle East.
The Nokia Asha 503 features 3.5G connectivity, which is not available on above two devices. This phone features a 3-inch screen, 5MP camera with LED flash, Corning Gorilla Glass 2 and comes in single SIM and in Easy Swap Dual SIM variants. The price before taxes or subsidies is USD 99 in Africa, Asia-Pacific, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East.
The new Asha phones will come with new Asha user interface, which will enable faster and easier sharing of images on social networks, with one easy swipe to access the camera and one touch to post. Fastlane gives people a second home screen for quick access to frequently used apps and deeper integration with their favourite social networks. Nokia also announced the availability of WhatsApp on Asha Platform devices, including the Asha 501. The new Asha devices will also have new imaging apps like Picfeed, Pictag and Photofunia.
The owners of Asha 501 will receive the new features through a software update. All new Asha 501 shipped from the factory will also come with the above new software.
