Samsung Galaxy S5 With 5.1 Inches Display Launched At MWC

Samsung has launched its fifth generation of Galaxy S5 smartphone, which the company claims has an advanced camera, the fast network connectivity, dedicated fitness tools and enhanced device protection features.

03_SM-G900F_electric BLUE_02There is not much change on the front appearance of the new Galaxy S5, but it features a perforated pattern on the back cover creating a modern glam look. This new sleek, contoured shaped smartphone will be available in charcoal Black, shimmery White, electric Blue and copper Gold colors.

Samsung has not announcd the price of Galaxy S5, but informed at the launch event that this will be available globally through Samsung’s retail channels, e-commerce and carriers from the month of April.

01_SM-G900F_charcoal BLACK_03The Galaxy S5 features a 5.1-inch FHD Super AMOLED (1920 x 1080) display, and is powered by a 2.5GHz quad-core processor, coupled with 2GB of RAM plus 16GB/ 32GB internal memory, which can be expanded upto 64GB via microSD card. It runs on latest  Android 4.4.2 KitKat, and is fuelled by a 2800mAh battery, which according to the company, will have standby time of 390 hrs and talk time of 21 hrs. This smartphone comes with the Ultra Power Saving Mode feature, which turns the display to black and white, and shuts down all unnecessary features to minimize the battery consumption.

The Galaxy S5 is equipped with a 16 megapixel rear camera, which is claimed to have the world’s fastest autofocus speed up to 0.3 seconds and the advanced High Dynamic Range (HDR), reproduce natural light and color with striking intensity. It also has Selective Focus feature, which allows users to focus on a specific area of an object while simultaneously blurring out the background.

The Galaxy S5 is  dust and water proof device. It also offers a Finger Scanner, providing a secure, biometric screen locking feature and a seamless and safe mobile payment experience to consumers.

According to Samsung, the Galaxy S5 supports the fifth generation Wi-Fi 802.11ac and 2X2 MIMO, and also supports the large number of LTE frequency with LTE Category 4 standard. The Galaxy S5 also  features Download Booster, an innovative Wi-Fi technology for boosting data speed by bonding Wi-Fi and LTE simultaneously.

To cater to lifestyles of consumers, the Galaxy S5 comes with the enhanced S Health 3.0 application. As per Samsung, this app offers more tools to help people stay fit and well. It provides a comprehensive personal fitness tracker to help users monitor and manage their behavior, along with additional tools including a pedometer, diet and exercise records, and a new, built-in heart rate monitor. Galaxy S5 users can further customize their experience with an enriched third party app ecosystem and the ability to pair with next generation Gear products for real-time fitness coaching.

Now, the main question is how this smartphone will be priced. In order to remain the dominating leader of smartphones, Samsung will have to keep the price of this smartphone well within the reach of the majority of uers who are more comfortable with a price tag below US $ 650 or below Rs. 40K in India.
