JBL known for superb audio products, has recently introduced JBL Live of headphones in India which are feature-enriched and come with the latest technologies for ease of operation and giving an immersive audio experience. I have the opportunity to test new JBL Live 400BT on-ear headphones for few days and it has really impressed me with its audio quality and trendy features. This headphone has MRP of Rs. 7899 but you can get it for Rs. 6899 on Amazon.in. Let us see whether it justifies the price.

What do you get in the box:

Besides headphones, you will get quick start guide manual, micro-USB charging cable and 3.5mm aux cable for wired listening incase your headphone has insufficient battery and you do not want to interrupt your listening experience.

Design

This headphone is light weight and has sleek, aluminium finish with a fabric-covered headband. All the buttons for controls are given on the right earcups which are decent and responds quickly. Charging port is given on the left earcups. The earcups have PU leather padding for snuggly fitting on your ears. For comfort of wear over your head, the headband has been designed with high quality fabric and headband can be extended also few inches depending upon your size. Overall, the headphone fits comfortably and you can wear it for longer duration without fatigue.

Battery Life and Bluetooth Connectivity

One of the highlights of this headphone is its long battery back-up. It is claimed to have battery life of 24 hours with a single charge. I have observed that despite my usage of this headphone at a stretch of two to three hours the battery lasted for almost 24 hours and cherry on the cake is that with 15 minutes charge, you get 2 hours of continuous playback which is more than enough even if you are an encore audio enthusiasts. It takes approximately 120 minutes to charge it from zero to full. This headphone supports Bluetooth 4.2 and it can be paired quickly with Bluetooth devices. I have not faced any issue of drops when listening via Bluetooth. Moreover, you can switch from one Bluetooth device to another or a video on your tablet to a call on your mobile phone seamlessly.

Voice-assist ready for Alexa and Google Assistant

The Live 400BT comes with support for Google voice assistant and Amazon Alexa. You can play your playlist, check the weather and much more by simply tapping the ear cup to activate the Google voice assistant or Amazon Alexa. Alternatively, you can use the My JBL Headphone app to set up the voice assistant or tweak the sound on the app which has options of Jazz, Vocal and Bass profiles.

Another interesting features available on this headphone are Ambient Aware and TalkThru modes. By touching the Ambient Aware button the headphone increases the ambient sound and lets you hear what is happening around you. The TalkThru mode drops the music level down and allows you to talk to your friends without removing your headphones. This can be managed with JBL app also. With these tweaks, you can have very good listening experience whether you are listening playsits of vocal, instruments, jazz or party songs and fast drum beats in low or high volume.

The JBL Live 400BT has all the features which is required in a good wire-less headphone. It has long battery back up, soft earcups and comfortable to wear without any problem, good sound output, voice assistant and very easy to use JBL app for customisation of sound.
