Chinese giant Huawei is currently one of the largest telecom equipments manufacturers operators, having operations in 140 countries. Huawei is also one of the biggest mobile handsets and tablets makers in China. Of late, it is getting aggressive in smartphones and tablets segments.
Huawei’s latest tablet computer; the MediaPad 10 Link is an attempt by the Chinese company to make considerable impression in tablet arena. It is run by the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean Operating System. This tablet is powered by a quad-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A9 CPU and 1 GB RAM equipped with internal storage coming in different variants of 8 GB, 16 GB and 32 GB and expandable up to 32 GB via a micro SD card slot. The processors and storage capacity of the device matches well with the latest iPad and the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1. Its ability to switch applications is pretty much on equal footing with its competitors.
One of its trump cards is its IPS-LCD (meaning, in-plane switching liquid crystal display), which offer better viewing and high quality graphics than traditional LCDs. The screen size is equally large compared to other tablets at 10.1 inches with a 1200 x 800 resolution with (149 pixels per inch). Despite the obvious downgrade, it is reviewed by a lot of consumers and critics as a great medium to view movies, much like its predecessor, the MediaPad FHD.
Another big feature is its speakers armed with Dolby Digital Plus sound enhancement in dual speakers, guaranteed to provide high quality audio whether you’re listening to music, watching a movie or playing games. The device also comes with the standard 3.5mm audio jack.
The MediaPad 10 Link is a 9.9mm thick and its frame is of silver aluminum metal unibody, which protects the fragile contents inside it. However, one of its downsides is that it’s considerably heavy at 620g despite its seemingly light appearance. Its primary (rear) camera can record up to 3.15 megapixels with a 2048×1536 resolution while its front camera exists, but is something to be improved on at 0.3 MP. The video player can play up to 1080p at 30 frames per second and can support the following formats -MP4 / 3GP / 3G2 / RM / RMVB / ASF / FLAC / APE / MOV. It can also support the following audio formats – MP3 / WMA / FLAC / APE / WAV / RA / Ogg / MIDI / 3GP, guaranteed to provide the best multimedia entertainment. The tablet comes with Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity with an Accelerometer, Gyroscope and an Ambient Light Sensor. The battery may last up to 10 hours.
The features of the Huawei MediaPad 10 Link may not be that impressive, being a complete downgrade to its predecessor model, but can give little bit competition the Galaxy Note 10.1 and iPad .
It is priced at Rs 24,990 in India, and can be acquired online for other markets with a retail price of $555. Not that cheap but it’s guaranteed to justify your money’s worth.
